Yo! Once again all chu can see is me, because HL is being a bit of a slacker with this thang! But anywhooo, the last fortnight has been super packed like the rest of the year!! I'm afraid that after next week they will all be very much the same.....
Moving on; the first few days were pretty chill, a lot of relaxing as usual and a bit more packing. To be honest I can't really remember much of what I did in the first week, which is probably bad because it likely included lots of catching up with my beaut friends :) But I do remember from Thursday which was mine, Terri's and Steph's farewell. We had a lovely dinner with the girls followed up by a nice catch up with a few other friends. Was good to say goodbye even though there will hopefully be a lot of catching up anyway throughout the year!
The weekend was very uneventful, apart from finalising packing and loading the contents of my room into the back of the car. I did say goodbye to HannyLicul on the Friday which was quite sad :( and went out for a final family dinner on the Saturday, which was alright, nice, but I hate when things are about me (believe it or not).
Then came Sunday, the day where I awoke nice and early in order to say goodbye to my lovely dogs, sister and father, and then travel the 6 hour journey (with mumma) to my new home... We arrived in Adelaide early enough to quickly unload all of my gear, with the help of the family I now live with, and then dash of to Flinders Uni for my first of many O Week activities. It was only a seminar for rural students, but it was still exciting to be on campus for the first time. There I met up with Chloe and Alyse (and Sophie) and then went to Hogs Breath for a welcome dinner. Was very pleasant and we even got asked if we were at a dirty bar by a homeless man, and picked up by some other drunk dudes - day 1 successful.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty chill. Went to uni for the first time, my gosh the campus is AMAZING!! It's insanely big with hills everywhere and a lake in the middle, I already recommend Flinders based on appearance alone! So it was O Week, and basically what went down was a lot of running around stalls, shit loads of free stuff, attending some good seminars, and finding out where all my classes were. Doesn't sound that interesting but I had a good time.
On Tuesday night mum and I flew out to Sydney and stayed with my Aunt and Uncle in preparation for tomorrow... THE OPENING OF THE ARTEXPRESS EXHIBITION, in which I had been selected for and was clearly excited!! We got up early in the morning and caught the train to St James and walked the rest of the way to The Art Gallery of New South Wales!!!!!! The 9:30 opening session was very formal, with cute little fruit salads in pots and other fancy finger foods. I was really happy that Mr Barrett had made the effort to come and support me too :) We then got to see the exhibition, and it was absolutely incredible!! I felt very priviledge to share wall space with 44 extremely talented artists. All of their work was amazing!!
We caught up with Rob for coffee and then my Aunt and Cousin Ellie for lunch, which was nice. Then went and saw the Picasso exhibition, which was in the same gallery as yours truly - AWESOMEEEE! Then the later session we had to stand by our works and answer any questions the public had about our work. This one lady got really excited and got loads of randoms to ask me about its meaning, so that was really cool :D afterwards we had a delicious dinner on the harbour with Satya and Rob, before heading back to my Aunt and Uncles place and going straight to sleep.
Thursday morning we awoke bright and early aka 4:30am Adelaide time, in order to catch a morning flight back to the city of churches. We arrived around half 8 and were in the car and straight off to Uni.... Thursday and Friday were actually really good. The Law orientation sessions were really thought out and organised. We were placed with a mentor and a small mentor group. I met a bunch of new people too so that made it much more enjoyable. The Thurs night tez, ralphy, ali g, and I hit up the bar for a bit of live music and free tap water :O! Fri arvo met another rad bunch of people and on the Saturday did a bit of shopping and went and saw the fringe parade. And it was pretty great apart from the massive wait for it to start :|
Today was a tiny bit more shopping and then Tezzy came over, checked out my place, and we browsed through Marion. Which just resulted in us getting depressed over our Uni budgets and resorting to KFC to cheer us up.....
But yeahhh, pretty crazy week and now I'm pretty much all settled into my new house. My only complaint is that it's ridiculously hot...
And that's about it! Actual class starts tomorrow, so I'm majorly keen for that and will definitely keep you updated!!!
Help me I'm poor!!!
